Though some of these have been adapted into great movies, but the movies don’t have the essence of the real story:
The Bridget Jone’s Diary by Helen Fielding
The ”cult chick-lit” is what we like to call Bridget Jone’s Dairy. A book that covers every aspect of a 30’s something woman. From career to boyfriend goals and weight issues, Bridget Jone’s is a character that is embedded in our minds since many years. The novel is written in the form of a personal diary that explore Bridget’s life. She is not only obsessed about her love life but also writes a journal about the daily struggles especially with her weight and over indulgence in alcohol and cigarettes and her career.
The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger
One of our personal favorites, The Devil Wears Prada is a book that makes you realize how important it is to have work-life balance. Andrea Sachs, a recent graduate from Brown University moves to New York with her friend Lily. After much effort, she lands up a job at a fashion magazine Runaway, a job that a million girls would kill for. But her boss, Miranda Priestly is someone who is a tough nut to crack. She makes her work life miserable, during which her personal life also goes for a toss. She loses her boyfriend, her friend Lily to drugs and a DUI and family who she doesn’t contact much. And in the course, she realizes how much she is turning into another Miranda Priestly and is it really worth it?
Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin
What happens when two best friends fall for the same guy? Rachel White, the narrator of the story is a thirty-year-old single woman, successful and happy. She is best friends with Darcy Rhone, whom she has known since childhood. But Darcy has always been heavy on Rachel, in a friendlier way. Things turn upside down when at a party, Rachel drinks too much and ends up sleeping with Darcy’s fiance, Dex. After turning it into an illicit affair, Rachel understands the true meaning of love and friendship and some boundaries.
Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella

One of my favorite books and a great movie adaptation, He’s Just Not That Into You is a self-help guide for women who are not able to understand how a man’s thought process works when it comes to them. Why is he not proposing? Why is he not popping the question? Why is he not calling when the first date was amazing? Some easy things that we women ponder over so much have been simply deciphered in this book.
Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella
Sophie Kinsella is our chick-lit expert. And one of her most famous books is Confessions of a Shopaholic from Shopaholic series. Rebecca Bloomwood, born and brought up in a middle-class family, loves to shop. As a teenager, she managed with black school boots, but now when she is independent and young, she can’t get her hands off anything that is branded and sparkles. The problem? She is now under humongous credit card debt and totally broke, thanks to her shopaholism.
The Zoya Factor
How would you like to be someone’s lucky charm? Zoya Singh Solanki, a Rajput girl works in an Advertising Agency covering various brands. She loves her job and is dedicated. But one day she is asked to leave a shoot where Shahrukh Kahn was supposed to appear. Instead, she is deported to Bangladesh to cover the Indian Cricket Team during Bangladesh series. Pride And Prejudice
One of the most celebrated classic novels, Pride and Prejudice is a story about Elizabeth Bennet, who is far away from following English society customs. She deals with issues of manners, upbringing, and marriage. She has four others sisters who are eligible for marriage and a misfit mother. Life takes a turn when Mr.Bingly of elite English class along with his friend Mr. Darcy move in the neighborhood. Mr.Bingly immediately falls for Elizabeth’s sister, but Mr. Darcy opposes Elizabeth’s ways. What follows is a classic story of love..
